HELENA SINCLAIR - MATERIAL BECOMING THE BODY, THE BODY BECOMING MATERIAL
Helena Sinclair began her art practice studying ceramics. While using clay as the foundation of her works, more recently she has begun incorporating materials such as hair, bones and metal. Helena creates sculptures with perceived functionality or familiarity to investigate the societal ideals of beauty, fragility, feminism, and the uncanny. Through the use of abject and manipulated materials, her works evoke a synchronous sense of haunting unease and beauty.
